Thirty Years of Poetry: A Live Web Event with Christian Wiman and Orion Poets, April 24

UPDATE: listen to the audio recording of this event.

Since its launch thirty years ago, Orion has published the work of poets who have surprised and inspired us with their deep sense of humanity and reverence for the natural world. As its editors have considered and reconsidered over the years what it means to be a magazine about humans and nature, its content—including its poetry—has always tried to embrace new territory and ask new questions.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, we invite you to join a live discussion and reading hosted by Orion’s poetry editor, Hannah Fries, featuring the editor of Poetry magazine, Christian Wiman, as well as Orion poets Pattiann Rogers and Maria Melendez.

On April 24, at 4 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. Pacific, Wiman, Melendez, and Rogers will discuss the history and future of poetry about the natural world, read from their work, and answer listener questions. The event is free to join, will be moderated by Orion staff, and is open to all readers and friends. Register here.

Orion hosts live web events every month. Sign up to be alerted by e-mail when a new one is announced.
