Join Orion at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival!

This weekend, January 10-13, Orion staff are traveling to Nevada City, California, to attend the 11th annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival. This year’s theme is “A Climate of Change,” and the event will feature over 150 independent and environmental films from around the world, plus a number of workshops, talks, and events.

Friday, January 11, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Nevada Theatre:
We’ll be emceeing the films and music program, which includes Bidder 70, a documentary about Tim DeChristopher.

Saturday, January 12, 4 – 5 p.m., at the Elixart Gallery:
We’re introducing a presentation by Matt Black on his project “People of the Clouds,” a portion of which appeared in Orion’s September/October 2012 issue as the picture essay “After the Fall.” *Open to the public

Saturday, 7 p.m., at the Nevada Theatre:
Join us for a Q & A with Bill McKibben, via Skype.

Sunday, January 13, 9 a.m., at The Curly Wolf:
We’re hosting a Thirty-Year Plan Coffee Talk with Orion contributor Craig Childs. Come hear him speak about his essay in Thirty-Year Plan and purchase a copy of the book. *Open to the public

Sunday, 10:30 a.m., at the Nevada Theatre:
Join us for a Q & A with Sandra Steingraber, via Skype.

Sunday, noon, at the Activist Center:
We’re moderating a panel featuring Orion contributors Dan Shepherd and Matt Black plus other artists and filmmakers on “Measuring the Impact of Art That Acts.” *Open to the public
